Training and Behavior Safety

Nothing on this site is veterinary or professional behavior advice. A sudden change in behavior can be a medical problem, so talk to your veterinarian first. Growling, snapping, biting, resource guarding or severe distress when left alone calls for a qualified behavior professional, not a product.

Fit a harness to the maker's guide and check it for rubbing under the legs and across the chest. Never leave a harness or long line on an unsupervised dog. Long lines can burn hands and trip people, so wear gloves, keep the line clear of legs and traffic, and only practice in open areas that are safe and legal for your dog.

Supervise your dog with any chew toy, choose the right size, and throw it away when it cracks or pieces come loose. Read the label on anything you stuff into a toy: xylitol, also listed as birch sugar, is poisonous to dogs. Count treats as part of daily food. Results vary from dog to dog.
